IPF has successfully organised the International Conference on Packaging in the Circular Economy: Best Approach for Sustainable Business, held on 24–25 September 2025 at The Alana Convention Center, Yogyakarta.
This two-day event brought together leading voices from government and non-government institutions, industry, associations, academia, and international organizations to discuss how packaging innovation can drive achieving Indonesia’s circular economy roadmap. As the nation advances toward its net-zero carbon emission target, the packaging sector is undergoing significant regulatory, technological, and market transformations. The conference served as a timely platform to align sustainability goals with business growth.
Keynote addresses were delivered by senior officials from the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of National Development Planning / Bappenas and some messages from global organizations such as UNIDO Indonesia and the president of the World Packaging Organization/WPO. The sessions highlighted critical themes ranging from national policy implementation to multi-stakeholder collaboration in achieving Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) as a key driver of the circular economy.
Over 20 expert speakers, including leaders from ExxonMobil, Dow Chemical, DIC and global machinery manufacturers shared insights on turning regulatory challenges into opportunities for competitive advantage. Brand owners such as Danone and Unilever presented success stories on integrating waste into the plastic supply chain, demonstrating how innovation and community partnerships are reshaping the industry. Supported by contributions from academia and professional associations, the conference showcased tangible progress and collective efforts toward circular packaging journey in Indonesia.
By fostering collaboration between brand owners, manufacturers, retailers, regulators, and researchers, the conference aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable packaging practices reducing waste, extending product lifecycles, and unlocking new business models. For executives, policymakers, and innovators committed to sustainability, this event was an essential forum to shape the future of packaging in Indonesia and across Asia.
In this conference, we also given awards to the winners of PackindoStar 2025 for the category: Sustainable Package.
